Hi Reader,

Spring has kicked into high gear in Upstate New York. The snow is finally gone, temperatures are rising, and everything is starting to bloom. Yea!

Of course, spring is an ideal time for cleaning things up, and that includes your marketing. Here are a few ideas for you:

- Clean up bad SEO practices (and replace them with the best practices in this issue of the Idea Club).

- Spruce up your website to attract more candidates with a new job board, an “apply now” fly-in or more calls to action.

- Give your sales team some fresh tools to help with their efforts, like new collateral or more social media support.

you

Send the 60% something useful, not a sales pitch. Hiring trends in their industry. A short note on pay rates in their market. A checklist for evaluating staffing partners. Repeat this monthly.

One helpful touch a month beats ten “touching base” emails. The content you share also gives you a great conversation starter for your next call.

4. Make it easy to say “now”

Every message should have one clear, easy next step: reply with one word, book 15 minutes, or ask for a quick market snapshot. If it takes effort to raise a hand, they won’t.

5. Measure what you’re nurturing

Track how many "not now" contacts turn into conversations over 6 to 12 months. That number tells you whether or not you're effectively nurturing the 60%.

Your challenge this week

Pick 25 employers who told you "not now." For each one, write down the reason they gave and one useful thing you could send them in the next 30 days. Then send the first one.

You don't need them to be ready today. You need to be the first call when they are.

New Feature in SMART IDEAS

The STEAL THIS prompt

My Co-CEO suggested that I provide our readers with an AI prompt each week to complement the theme of our SMART IDEAS. I thought I’d give it a try (okay, she pushed me into giving it a try!).

PROMPT:

Act as a sales strategist for a staffing agency. I'm going to paste an anonymized list of prospects who said no or went quiet over the past 12 months, with my notes on each. The 10/60/30 rule says about 10% of ideal clients would consider a new staffing partner right now, 60% are open to new ideas and convert over time, and 30% will never buy.

For each prospect:

1) Tell me which bucket they likely belong in and why.
