According to Haley Marketing CEO, David Searns, “For years, we watched staffing companies struggle with their job advertising. Most firms are unsure how much to spend, which job boards to use or how to best manage their advertising. With programmatic, job advertising becomes much more measurable and controllable with immediate benefits. We’re seeing clients go from getting applications to 30% of jobs to getting applications on more than 90%. And we’re seeing costs per application drop by as much as 30%. Programmatic job advertising provides the staffing industry with a more efficient and effective way to manage their job advertising dollars, and we are thrilled to bring this service and our new free eBook to the industry.”

Common questions about recruitment marketing

What's the difference between recruitment marketing and posting jobs?

Posting jobs is one recruiting tactic. Recruitment marketing takes a broader view of how candidates discover your opportunities, evaluate your staffing firm, apply for jobs and stay connected with your team. That can include job advertising, career sites, social recruiting, employment branding, reputation management and recruiting automation.

What is programmatic job advertising?

Programmatic job advertising uses technology and performance data to help determine where to advertise jobs and how to allocate your budget. Haley Marketing combines technology with staffing expertise, testing and ongoing analysis to help generate the quality and quantity of applicants you need without unnecessary overspending.

Do we need a separate career site?

A staffing career site gives job seekers a recruiting-focused experience built around finding opportunities and applying. It can connect with your ATS, improve mobile job search and application, support your employment brand and provide a stronger destination for recruitment advertising.

## 4. Is “Programmatic” a Bad Idea for Staffing Agencies?

Citation: Is “Programmatic” a Bad Idea for Staffing Agencies?, Haley Marketing, 2021-02-16, passage 1, https://www.haleymarketing.com/resources/ask-haley-blog/programmatic-bad-idea-staffing-agencies

Before trying something new in your staffing agency, especially when it affects recruitment and your candidate pipeline, most companies conduct research and try to learn as much as they can on their own. It could be through reading content, watching videos, or talking to people who you trust.

One of those areas that is becoming talked about more often in candidate recruitment is programmatic job advertising. In observing that area since the start of 2018, a lot has been said about programmatic job advertising. Some information is correct. Some information is wrong.

It’s easy to jump to conclusions when hearing about a bad experience, but let’s dig deeper into programmatic job advertising and analyze if it’s a bad idea for the staffing industry.

Making Data-Driven Decisions

Making the best data-driven decisions is imperative with recruitment budgets. There are a number of ways to do that, and programmatic software is an automated example to leverage technology, to eliminate wasted spend, and to improve ROI. Recruitment teams could manually perform the tasks of posting jobs, taking them down, monitoring budgets, adjusting bidding, tracking application totals, etc. But using a software platform that automates all of those areas, it gives recruiters more time to talk to the people who want to work for you.

## 5. How to Recruit Outside of Job Boards in 2025 | Facebook, Referrals & Local Strategy

Citation: How to Recruit Outside of Job Boards in 2025 | Facebook, Referrals & Local Strategy, Haley Marketing, 2025-04-14, passage 2

you reaching out and sending this one to me.

I was going to answer it via email, Brad, but I thought since I got you on the show this week, why not just elevate it as a topic for insights?

So Ryan had mentioned that they recently started doing programmatic recruiting and programmatic job advertising, which is having programmatic means to make sure that you're getting every dollar spent appropriately on sites like Indeed and ZipRecruiter for the listener who is unfamiliar with programmatic job advertising.

But his question is then, do you have any recommendations for ways to find candidates outside of Indeed or ZipRecruiter or the major job boards?

Do you have anyone who has success on Facebook for labor jobs?

I want to find new sources of candidates outside of the normal job boards.

Brad, super common question that I think we're hearing quite often is how do we eliminate some of that spend over on Indeed or ZipRecruiter?

Or if not eliminate it, how do we supplement it?

So I want to pitch it to you.

What else can we do to drive candidates right now?

Yeah, great question, Brad.

But before I answer it, I just want to comment and say that I'm super happy to hear that it came in with programmatic to begin with.

So if you're spending over like $2,000, $2,500 on job boards, which most staffing companies are, makes complete sense to shift that spend over to programmatic.

And that in and of itself can help streamline costs, drive more efficiency, increase the volume of applications, stop wasted spends.

Number one, great job.

Let's actually take a pause there.

Let me interrupt you.

So why does and how does programmatic job advertising help get the most out of your money on those sites?

So think about it this way.

You've got oftentimes a set spend limit, right?
